I'm a Social Work major and a Public Health minor. I put in work from time to time, but I have no intentions to ever be a wedding planner. I just find the occasion to be very interesting... so follow me and let's talk weddings!

Q&A with Bride, Marleka Johnson

Marleka Johnson will be tying the knot on August 27, 2011. Her and her fiance', Brian Greenhow, will be united in marriage at The Rose Garden, in Huntington Park, with many friends and family members to share in their special day. Let's take a quick peek into the couple's planning process!!!

Me: Are you planning a small or big wedding, and with how many guests?
Marleka: We are planning a fairly big wedding, with over 250 guests.

Me: What would you say has been the most stressful part of the planning process?
Marleka: Finance and fiance' go together way too good. We are trying to budget, but keep everything the way we want it.

Me: What would you say has been the least stressful part of the planning process?
Marleka: The least stressful was finding my dress. I went to one fitting and found my dress that same day. I also found my wedding planner easily.

Me: What are your wedding colors?
Marleka: The wedding colors are Watermelon & White, to go with the roses.

Me: What are you most looking forward to for your big day?
Marleka: We're both most looking forward to the exact moment we say "I do".

Me: Are you planning a honeymoon, and if so, to where?
Marleka: Yes we are. We haven't decided on a location yet, but either the Bahamas or Hawaii.

Congratulations Brian and Marleka, and good luck with everything to come!!!!!

My {predicted) Bridal Party

I know I've been away from the blog for quite some time, but it's just been a lot going on. Anyway, I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and asked myself "If I was to get married tomorrow, who would be on my side of the bridal party?" Well, I have some amazing friends in my life whom I love dearly, as well as some family members I would probably want to be in it. Then I re-thought some things and actually, I don't want 20 or more bridesmaids!! It'll be a new day by the time I get down the aisle!!! And by the time I include my sister and the cousins that I LOVE so dearly and feel EXTREMELY close to, 20 or more bridesmaids is what I'll probably have. So, with that being said (and who knows... that thought will probably change when the time actually comes), my party would include the following people:
The only two there has never been any question about...
Amber Bennafield (maid of honor)
Carlina Tynes (matron of honor)
Bridesmaids...
Shawnay Mayers
Felicia Byrd
Shanee Jones
Kiearshay Monroe
Kia Watson
Danielle Turlington
Amber Wilkins
Lameisha Poole
Shaahida Lewis
Ar'Kera Mutz
Tashiana Cagle

Now, this is based on if I was to get married tomorrow. And even when the time finally comes, these are the people I still see being a part of it. However, who knows when the time will be, and who knows who I will form a special bond with by that time. So, it definitely isn't official. But these ladies listed all have a special part of my heart and all must share in that special day!!
